JEStats

  • Consulting and creative work. GrowingJEStats (J&E Consulting), the studio I run with my partner in Lake Stevens. We help with data analysis, website design and management, print and social graphics, and AI integrations. Projects start with a written scope.
  • Astra DB Plugin. Building a community integration that helps coding agents inspect live schemas, search data, and work with Astra DB through guarded tools.Project notes.
  • SkillRoute. Helping agents find relevant skills with ranked matches, confidence scores, and source evidence. A local-first tool for skill discovery and routing.Project notes.
  • Codebase Mentor. Helping developers understand unfamiliar repositories with architecture answers, change plans, and onboarding guides grounded in source code.Project notes.

Work

  • Langflow, IBM. Core maintainer. Current focus: MCP reliability and security, the Langflow SDK and release workflow, model-provider consistency, and production developer experience.
  • AI Workbench. Building theself-hosted Astra workbench for retrieval-backed applications: knowledge bases, ingest, retrieval experiments, agents, MCP, and runtime operations.
  • Developer and Operator Experience team. Making Langflow easier to run in production and easier to hack on in development — the two usually want different things.

Side projects

  • Verity. My main project outside of work: an open, domain-general engine for forensic surface comparison — calibrated likelihood ratios, not black-box "matches," from 3-D scans of bullets, cartridge cases, and toolmarks.Project notes ·verity.codes ·source.
  • Aeroza. Open-source weather infrastructure for live radar, geospatial queries, streaming APIs, nowcasting, and forecast verification.Project notes ·source.
  • Turning this site into a more visual, evidence-first record of the work.
  • Occasional pushes to bulletxtrctr and the CSAFE bullet-matching pipeline.
  • OmniacsDAO — Numerai tooling,experiment-builder, letter-loops.

Reading & learning

  • Papers on agent tool-use evaluation and MCP security boundaries.
  • Rust, no longer for no good reason — Verity's X3P codec is written in it.

Not doing

  • Conference travel (remote-first for 2026).
  • Unscoped projects. A written scope helps me give studio work and the day job at IBM the attention they need.
